Ticker
Ticker or Ticker Symbol is a symbol of a financial product that consists of an abbreviation, the latest price digit, the percentage change, and a color (red/green or blue/red) which represents an upward price movement or down at the present.
The abbreviation of the symbol for each product is unique and even if it is the same product, when it is in different providers, the symbol abbreviation is not the same.
For example, let’s say that ZFX Company shares use the abbreviation ZFX, which is registered on the NYSE of the United States, but the same stock is registered as ZCFX in the SET of Thailand.
The purpose of Ticker is to make it easy for investors to find information related to that product such as dividend payout date, earnings release date, etc. Ticker is updated all the time in real time as the product price changes.
In the forex market, the ticker is comparable to the abbreviations of each currency pair and other instruments such as EUR/USD , BTC/USD, NAS100,US30, XAU/USD etc. and can be viewed from the Market Watch window in MT4.
Ticker has the following components:
- Product symbol
- Latest bid-offer price
- Color red/blue at the price numbers
- Red/Green arrow front of the product symbol
- The background color will vary depending on the product category
Investors should be aware that even if it’s the same product , different account types will have different symbols. Or different brokers will have different abbreviations. Therefore, it is important to understand well before you start trading.
